Mr Snowman

My dearest sister inlaw Clara crocheted me a snowman for Christmas and he is so pretty. My husband and I took her for her cancer treatment today and went to visit a good friend of hers, Her home looked liked a winter wonderland. It was just beautiful, I could stayed there all day. Clara had crocheted her a Mr Gingerbread man and he looked so cute beside Mr Snowman. Carolyn was hoping I would forget Mr Snowman but I didn't. Clara's tree and mantle were decorated so pretty.

Well the spirit finally moved me and I got my tree up tonight. Usually I have my tree up and ready to turn the lights on by Thanksgiving. I went to my friends house yesterday and she has the most beautiful home and decorated like a page out of a magazine, that gave me the spirit so I have been busy ever since I came home. I want some boas and feather pics for my tree but can't find them so will need to order on line to finish up. I am ready as far as gifts but still need to wrap them. Next year I believe I will put my tree up in July, or maybe I can turn a bedroom into a Christmas room and leave it up all year. My husband would be happy because he hates to bring everything down from the attic. When I go back to Leathas I will make pictures and post them next week. Merry Christmas everyone.

Thanksgiving or Christmas?

The snow is flying the ground is turning white and I'm torn assunder. The house is decorated for thanksgiving but Christmas is near. Christmas music is playing and I want to put up my tree. Company is coming for turkey day, wonder if they care if we eat around the tree. Maybe I can put out a few santas and put up my wreaths and tell them the elfs must have done it. Mr Snowman is lounging on the sofa urging me on so maybe I best get busy before the snow quits flying. Have you all decorated yet? Aw come on, after all it is a late turkey day only 4 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Well I have to run now the turkey is chasing Mr Snowman.

I Must Be Getting Old!!!

The last few weeks make me think I must be getting old. Have you ever done dumb things and hope no one finds out about it? Well I am old enough now I tell everyone when I do bad things or crazy things. Last week I decided to fix some fries. I use a fry daddy and use it in the garage on the freezer to keep so much grease out of my kitchen. I plugged it up and noticed my cat ran in the door when I came out so I went in to run him out and came back and noticed I had left the plactic lid on the fry daddy except it was now melted and in the oil. I emptied it put it in the garbage and thought about not telling anyone. I bought a new one and it is so much better than the old one.
Sunday I made a pineapple upside down cake except I forgot to use the pineapple sitting right in front of me. I am worried about what I am going to do next. Oh well I will blame it all on the cold weather which I hate. After all I don't feel like I am getting old even when I run into people I grew up with and they look old! I'm not going to worry about getting old until I start peeing my pants and sucking a pacifer. LOL. Have a good day!

Winter Has Shown Its Face

Yesterday I had to go to town early at least for me. 9 am LOL. I walked out the door and something white was flying around, I said to myself this is not what it looks like, after all it was just yesterday spring was here. But lo and behold it was that dreaded white stuff called snow. I shivered as I got into a cold car and thought back to those days of summer. Oh how I loved to come out early in the morning and drink a cup of hot coffee and sit on the back porch basking up the hot sun. Why I didn't even mind if I had an early errand to run.
My husband Dean leaves every morning at 5 am for work and back a few years ago he never complained about the cold. Of course he was born and raised in Shady Valley which is in the mountains. Now that age is catching up with him he seems to want to dress warmer and complains a bit more about the cold, now me I have always hated cold weather. Give me 90 and a beach and I know I am in heaven. Of course there is one time I love snow and that is at Christmas, my favorite time of year.
Can you remember when you were a child going shopping at Christmas when the snow was flying and the stores were crowded but you didn't mind the cold or the crowds. The Salvation Army was out ringing the bells and people selling mistletoe on the street corners. Weren't those the good ole days. Of course I have never grown up, I still believe in Santa Claus!
I have finished most of my Christmas shopping and will start making my candy and cakes soon. Wow maybe I'm not as old as I thought I was. Since I started talking about Christmas I'm ready to get out my decorations. If I keep talking I will have my tree up by suppertime.
What is your favorite season and why?

Cody and Tyler my 2 middle grandsons.

This was made last weekend in Kentucky

Time sometimes seem too short unless------

Have you ever noticed time seems so short if you have a deadline to beat or a place you have to go to that you dont want to go.
But time can also seem endless like getting to the beach or that special thing you cant wait to do.
We are going to Harrahs in Cherokee, NC tomorrow and this week has been at least a month long. I feel this way everytime I go there. After I get there time flies.
We always have an appointed time we want to leave there. I swear we have only a few minutes after we get there before Dean says time to go. I know there is no way we have been there since the day before even if I did stay up all night. Wish I could invent a time machine to make time stand still when I am doing something I really like to do.
Have you ever felt this way?
Remember when we were children waiting on Santa to come, the month of December lasted forever or at least it felt that way. Now that I am older and it takes me longer to get ready for Christmas December doesn't have near enough days in it.
By the way did you know it is only 69 days til Christmas?
Merry Christmas everyone in case I dont get the time to say it in December, LOL.

Nice day to visit

My husband Dean and my oldest son and myself went up to Kentucky saturday and spent the day with my 2 youngest grandsons. We had a wonderful day. The weather was beautiful and the leaves would take your breath with all the colors God gave us. We shopped and just hung out with the boys. When we were leaving they wanted us to stay. We told them we would be back soon and spend the night with them. They seemed to have grown faster than I wanted them to, seems just yesterday they were babies, but then again it seems just yesterday their dad was a baby. No wonder my wrinkles are getting deeper, I guess just dont feel that old. LOL____

Everyone has A Family Ghost

I have been researching my family and my husbands family for 25 years. I love searching records, courthouses, libraries or anywhere I may find some small tidbits. I have been to several states to search the archives. I like to find distant family members and work with them on our family tree.
I have researched the Melvin, Leonard, Norris, Fletcher, Dollar, Humphrey, Bolen, Vanover, Gentry, Long, Stout, Blevins, and many connecting families. I love to share my info and help someone find their roots.
Someday I hope to donate my many records to the Archives. I hope that one of my grandchildren will be interested and want to carry on for me.
I have lots of old photos of the many families I have researched.
I have searched for several years for something and when I find it I feel as if I have hit the lottery.
And yes I have found some family ghosts hidden in the closets for many years. LOL

My Rainy Day Attitude

I am a warm weather person and I dont like snow except on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Sometimes I do like a rainy day, especially if I am home alone, it gives me a chance to sit back and remember the sunny days I've had. I like to stay in my gown tail until I have to dress. I like to cook on rainy days, go through old pictures, watch whatever I want on tv, or sometimes read or maybe even do nothing. LOL I can't just sit and do nothing, I have to read or get on the puter. You know the rains bring the beautiful flowers I so enjoy. I can sit on my patio and enjoy the flowers and feel a little touch of heaven. I see the beauty in the trees and can get lost just watching the many birds and squirrels in my backyard. God gave us so much to soak up with our eyes and ears and I dont want to miss any of it. The next time we have a rainy day just sit back relax and enjoy where you have been and dream about where you want to go. What a life we have if we look for the good in everything.
